As They Lay is a performance-based video. Stones are gathered and thrown into the river. While the human action is essential to place the stones in the river, the natural action of the water and other elements is ultimately what will affect the stones as well as ourselves.
I originally made this video entitled Sicut Iacabent (As They Lay). In the video I said "sicut iacabent", which means "as they lay" in Latin, as I threw the stones. I decided it was superfluous to do such a thing, removed it and will leave it at that.
